Consultant Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgeon
In March 2018, Mr Lim joined the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgeon with a specific aim to improve the laparoscopy service and the care for women with complex endometriosis and pelvic pain. He provides a tailored approach to the treatment of all his patients depending on their individual circumstances. Along with sub-specialising in benign gynaecology, he now leads the nationally-accredited endometriosis service at Lister Hospital, Stevenage. As well as advanced laparoscopic surgery, he now offers robotic gynaecological procedures from Lister Hospital.
After completing his basic medical degree at Southampton and spending his junior doctor years at Wessex, Mr Lim went into training in general obstetrics and gynaecology in Scotland, then later in the North East region of England. He has always had a keen interest in keyhole surgery and medical education.
Mr Lim was one of a handful of gynaecologists in the country who completed the Advanced Laparoscopy Training certified by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). He trained in Middlesbrough (James Cook University Hospital) and Newcastle (Royal Victoria Infirmary). These were centres that, for decades, have been attracting referrals of complex gynaecological cases from across the North East and beyond.
He has published widely in the field of minimal access surgery and remains an active member of the training subcommittee for the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE). Mr Lim regularly train general gynaecologists at surgical courses nationally as faculty member.
