Mr Gary Atkin graduated from Manchester University. His higher surgical training in General and Colorectal Surgery included training at St Mark’s Hospital, the internationally-renowned centre for gastrointestinal disease. He completed a fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital before taking up his consultant post in 2010. He is a consultant surgeon and lead clinician for colorectal cancer at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
Mr Atkin’s special interest is minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery for benign bowel disease as well as bowel cancer. He is trained in a wide range of bowel and gastrointestinal disorders, as well as hernia repair and gallbladder removal. Mr Atkin adopts a compassionate and personal approach, ensuring patients feel comfortable and well-informed throughout their treatment.
