Mr Jim Adshead qualified at Cambridge University and moved into a London training scheme. He completed a six year training programme in urology in the West London teaching hospitals and gained valuable experience in urological cancer and minimally invasive access during a laparoscopic fellowship year in Sydney, Australia.
Currently, he is appointed as a Consultant at The Herts and Beds Urological Cancer centre based at Lister Hospital, Stevenage.
He has produced national guidelines on consenting for urological surgery as well as served for 5 years on the British Association of Urological Surgeons Oncology committee.
Mr Adshead is Director of The Royal College of Surgeons Robotic Fellowship Scheme at the Lister and has trained 8 consultants to date.
Mr Adsheads specialist interests include the management of prostate cancer including Da Vinci Robotic prostatectomy with NeuroSAFE to safely preserve erections. He has been involved in over 1000 prostatectomies now and has published widely.

Mr Adshead has performed and mentored around 300 Robotic partial Nephrectomies and has performed Robotic Pyeloplasty for over 12 years
Mr Adshead is currently Urology cancer Lead for the whole of the East of England Cancer Alliance.
