John was appointed at the Lister Hospital in 2011, sub-specialising in Endourology and Stone surgery. He qualified from St.Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London, and also has a First Class degree in Neuroscience from Imperial College, London.
He spent two years of research in the field of Neuro-Urology (based at Stanmore Hospital and University College London), developing spinal cord stimulators. He undertook his Urological training on the North Central London rotation. During his final years of training he worked at the Royal Free Hospital within the Urology & Transplantation unit, where he was trained in Laparoscopic Surgery. He spent his final year of training in the world-renowned Endourology and Stone Unit at University College Hospital London, and was was awarded a Fellowship to study Minimally Invasive Techniques in Urology in St.Louis, Missouri in 2011.
He currently undertakes the majority of the complex stone work within the hospital, including referrals from neighboring hospitals. He runs the only Metabolic Stone Clinic within the region with Dr Adie Viljoen, Consultant Chemical Pathologist.
He has written numerous publications and book chapters, and is currently an examiner on the Urology MSc. course at University College London, and is a reviewer for urology journals. He regularly teaches other Urologists on training courses around the country.
