Mr Orlans is a highly trained vitreoretinal surgeon, cataract surgeon and general ophthalmologist who sees patients from across Hertfordshire and London. He studied Physiology & Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge, graduating with a first-class degree and the highest mark in his subject. He then undertook clinical training at the University of Oxford, qualifying with Distinction in 2010. He subsequently trained in General Ophthalmology and Vitreoretinal surgery in London, completing world-renowned specialist surgical fellowships at St. Thomas’ and Moorfields Eye Hospitals, as well as a DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford.
Mr Orlans is widely published in the fields of ophthalmology, retinal science and vitreoretinal surgery, and regularly presents his work at national and international meetings. He has been awarded numerous prizes including the Crombie Medal from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for the highest mark in the international Part 1 FRCOphth examination, the Founder’s Cup from the Oxford Ophthalmological Congress, and the Ruskell Medal from the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers for the best paper published in the fields of ophthalmology and visual science. He currently serves as regional tutor for Ophthalmology at the University of Cambridge.
