The Hal Gray Unit at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre is a private patients department with the highest standards of holistic patient care. The department has its own outpatient consulting rooms and offers a large team of highly trained health professionals dedicated to cancer services which include consultants, radiographers, nurses, therapists and support staff and includes the following:

Radiotherapy
Private patients are able to receive radiotherapy treatment on state of the art equipment offering the latest technology to include Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiotherapy Treatment (IGRT), and Rapid ARC technology.
We also offer High Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy, treating patients on both an outpatient or inpatient basis. This type of radiotherapy is the treatment of choice for some types of cancer. Our Cyberknife system offers patients the very latest in cancer treatment technology. The system provides a non-invasive alternative to surgery for those who suffer from tumours and other medical conditions.
Chemotherapy
Given both as inpatient and outpatient treatment, patients receive treatment in the Chemotherapy Outpatients Suite at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, a purpose built state of the art unit. Patients receive both simple and complex cytotoxic drug regimens and targeted therapies with pre-treatment assessment clinics, oral chemotherapy and the management of central venous access devices.
Lynda Jackson Centre: support and information services
Situated next to the Cancer Treatment Suite (near the Gate 3 entrance), the Centre offers support and information services for patients, relatives and carers before, during and after cancer treatment. The Centre is open Monday to Friday (9.30am – 4.30pm) and offers a drop-in service so patients and their families can ask for help, support, information and advice.
The Centre also offers a programme of health and wellbeing services including counselling, group relaxation classes, complementary therapies and workshops to support patients experiencing side effects of having treatment for cancer such as hair loss. Some of these services are run in person and some online or by telephone.

Paul Strickland Scanner Centre
Scanning services for diagnosis and monitoring treatment are provided by the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, a specialist imaging centre on the Mount Vernon site. This includes MRI, CT and PET-CT scans. The Centre also provides specialist imaging services to support clinical research and work closely with patients, NHS organisations, Universities, clinical research organisations and industry partners to deliver a diverse portfolio of high-quality research studies.
